Wynonna on alli.
Wynonna Judd is now a spokesperson for alli weight loss. I saw the commercial this morning during a talk-show, and she says she can use it "around her schedule," and I think we both know what that means.

What are the side effects?
You may experience bowel changes when taking Alli. Ads and marketing materials refer to these changes as "treatment effects." These side effects can include:
- Gas with an oily anal discharge
- Loose stools or diarrhea
- More frequent bowel movements
- Hard-to-control bowel movements
These bowel changes result from the undigested fat going through your digestive system. If you are a WLS'er - DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. PRODUCT.
Now that Glaxo-SmithKline has already been to the blog: Let's get this out of the way. MM Took This Product. (BEFORE I RE-ARRANGED MY BOWELS WITH SURGICAL METHODS.) It works. I pooped my colon inside out and stained the bowl orange. Tasty! Mr. MM also took it with more, intense! results. I may have suggested feminine protection.
Says Mayo:
Don't take Alli if you:
- Are at a healthy weight
- Are taking cyclosporine
- Have had an organ transplant
- Have problems absorbing food
The drug also may pose risks for anyone who takes blood-thinning medication or has diabetes or thyroid disease.
Orlistat decreases the absorption of certain fat-soluble vitamins — for example, vitamins A, D and E. If you're taking Alli, you need to take a daily vitamin supplement (at a time different from when you take Alli) to prevent potential nutrient deficiencies.

Maybe I'm naive. Or a bitch. But I just don't understand why celebrities endorse crap like this.
For one thing, we all know Wynonna's on the Yo-Yo Train. She may have dropped some weight with Alli, but it's gonna come back. At which point she'll get a ration of shit about it.
For another, this product is not a sensible, healthy product. Why associate yourself with it?

I had the opportunity to take it before WLS too, when it was still Xenical. But when the doctor's nurse started telling me what the DRUG REP had said about it after she took it...no, thanks!

...and who's to say she ACTUALLY has to use a product to endorse it?

They forgot to add this to the reasons you shouldn't take Alli:
Do not take unless you enjoy crapping yourself or you do not like wearing adult diapers.

I took Xenical (aka Alli) when it was still a pricey prescription only medication. I cannot tell you how many mgs I was on but I can tell you that my coworkers held a surpise birthday party at work for me one night and I finally at 6:15am the morning agreed to have two bites of the birthday cake they had purchased for me. I made it home by 7:45 and barely made it to the toilet in time. I thank goodness that I waited till right before getting off work before giving in and that I only had a couple of bites. I can't imagine what would have happened if I hadn't!
It worked for me as long as I took the product because nothing puts the fear of eatting fat into like the possiblity of publically soiling yourself! But then who wants to live like that for the rest of your life?

I have to say that I could never in good conscience endorse a product like this. I took Xenical. For 2 days. And had grease stains for 8 days. I can't say that I was ever more embarassed in my life. The uncertainty. The mystery of the when. The joy of having to hot water wash with Dawn your underware. Hmm.... And to think that WLS is the "easy" way out.

How much have you lost?
No side effects, really?
How hard has it been to quit all junk foods?
No side effects, really?
What do you eat?
No side effects, really?

i think alli is only for some people...the only time i had any problems was when i ate something above the fat content i was supposed to take. All you people against taking it probably didn't stick to the guidelines. And if you did stick to them then it might just not agree with your digestive system...i take it and i have lost 10 pounds so far. I would most certainly be willing to endorse it. On top of that i dont get ANY side effects and only experienced them one time. I think it's great.
